Due to the innovative funnel shape with smooth transitions - unlike traditional solutions with sharp corners - your product flows better along the wall. This prevents accumulation of material in the bend (an unwanted hygiene problem, especially for food and feed products).

Protective strength

Polem silos and tanks protect raw materials against temperature fluctuations and thus against moisture problems (condensation). That is the result of the excellent thermal properties of composite. This way, raw materials maintain their quality and you save on maintenance costs.

The insulation value of a Polem tank or silo with 50 mm PU foam is comparable to that of a metal tank insulated with 100 mm rock wool and aluminum cladding. This makes our insulation solutions not only more efficient but also more sustainable.

Technical specifications and options

Silos

At Polem, we can achieve different funnel angles (enclosed outlet angles):

Funnel angle application:

• 30°: For specific orders
• 40°: Ideal for food and feed applications
• 60°: Suitable for abrasive and dry substances

Flow behavior in the silo:

A funnel angle of 60° predominantly leads to funnel flow, while a funnel angle of 40° usually causes mass flow. The choice depends on your product.

Mass flow ensures that the entire product moves down evenly, ensuring the 'First in, First out' (FiFo) principle. This is ideal for perishable products.

Funnel flow allows the product to flow in the middle of the silo, while the outer side remains relatively still. This reduces wear, but is less suitable for products that can spoil or clump. Read more about flow behavior.

Tanks

Our tanks can be equipped with different types of bottoms:

• Curved bottom: Ideal when tanks need to be completely empty and clean regularly.
• Funnel bottom: Perfect for settling sediment or for thick, lobbed liquids.
• Flat bottom: Cost-efficient and practical for many applications.
