De-icing: premium solutions for safe roads
Ready for challenging winters
Polem offers high-quality composite silos, tanks, mobile silos, and brine systems for a reliable, efficient, and environmentally conscious approach to de-icing. Our systems are designed for optimal performance under the harshest weather conditions, with minimal impact on people, the environment, and infrastructure.
Durable technology for road salt and brine
Our silos and tanks are made of corrosion-resistant composite and designed for intensive winter use. Thanks to the smooth, seamless inner wall, the product is easy to clean and material flow remains optimal, even in low temperatures and under heavy load.
- Corrosion resistant: Our composite products are resistant to the aggressive properties of road salt
- Easy to clean: The seamless, smooth inner wall ensures optimal product flow
- Fast loading of spreader vehicles: For efficient logistics
- Significantly less salt consumption: Through brine technology
- Minimal maintenance and long-term use: Lower operational costs
Flow and trustworthy, also during the winter
Polem silos and tanks are developed for continuous availability. Thanks to our SEAMLESS technology, where the tank is produced in a single piece, a mirror-smooth, strong inner wall is created. This promotes material flow and prevents disruptions, even in winter conditions.
- Chemical resistance: Resistant to aggressive salts
- Thermal properties: Reduces condensation
- Withstands temperature fluctuations: Reliable in all seasons
- Available in various capacities: From 20 to 250 m³
Seamless, strong, and mirror-smooth
Our composite silos and tanks are manufactured as a single piece, creating a mirror-smooth inner wall. This promotes product flow – essential during critical winter periods when quick access to de-icing salt is important.
Brine makers: modern wet salt technology
Polem offers advanced brine preparation systems that enable the use of brine for better adhesion, faster effect, and lower salt usage. This makes the transition to a more sustainable form of de-icing simple and cost-efficient.
- Long service life: Thanks to composite construction
- Minimal maintenance: Corrosion-free components
- Available with manual or automatic controls: Flexible deployment
- Environmental benefits: Less salt load on the environment
- Faster thawing: Through directly working brine
Mobile silo’s for flexible performance
For temporary locations or additional storage capacity, Polem offers mobile silos that can be easily relocated. They are lightweight, robust, and deliver the same performance as our fixed installations.
- Long service life: Premium quality
- Minimal maintenance: Corrosion-resistant construction
- Flexible deployment: For various applications
- Various sizes: For different needs
Suitable for all anti-slip agents
Polem silos and tanks are developed for storing materials used in de-icing operations:
- Brine (NaCl, CaCl₂): Optimal storage
- Dry de-icing salt: Good protection against clumping
- Various salt types: Complete chemical resistance
Expert Checks: prevent damage and hold-ups
Our periodic inspections, de Polem Expert Checks, hhelp keep your installation in top condition. During these inspections, an experienced technician conducts targeted measurements and checks to detect wear and risks early.
- Wall thickness measurements: Using special instruments to detect wear
- Ventilation check: Ensuring proper functioning to prevent damage
- Damage assessment: Identifying potential issues before they become problems
- Professional repair advice: Expert recommendations for maintenance
- Operational safety: Regular inspections reduce the risk of damage and downtime

Winter service
What if my silo or tank is damaged?
Our service team can repair most damage on site to restore it to its original strength. Thanks to the flexibility of GRP, local repairs can be carried out without replacing the entire structure.
How often should I have my silo or tank inspected?
We recommend performing a visual inspection yourself every month and having a professional Polem Expert Check carried out every 3 to 5 years. This prevents unexpectedly high repair costs and extends the service life of your silo or tank. The recommended frequency depends on various factors: the type of medium you store, how intensively the silo or tank is used, and how often it is filled and emptied. For daily or heavy use, we recommend having inspections carried out more frequently — for example, a professional check every year. For less intensive use, the interval can be longer. Regular checks ensure that your installation remains safe, reliable, and in optimal condition.
How can I prevent bridging in my silo?
Bridging can be largely prevented by using the correct hopper angle and smooth inner wall. For products that are difficult to flow, we can integrate a vibrating bottom .
Can Polem silos and tanks be placed outdoors?
Yes, GRP is weatherproof. UV-resistant, frost- and heat-resistant. No rust, no painting required. The good insulation value (λ = 0.17 W/m·K) prevents condensation.
How does Polem ensure that its storage tanks are resistant to corrosive substances such as brine?
Our tanks are made of corrosion resistant material, a composite material. In addition, we can apply special coatings and treatments to extend the life of the tanks.
