Starch

Starch has, beside a lot of applications in the foodstuffs industry, a large scope in papers and adhesive industry. Starch is used in the wet-end of paper production to increase the adhesive power of cellulose fibres. During several steps in paper and cardboard production starch is an important ingredient for a high-quality end product. The adhesive industry uses a lot of starch as well. Examples of products are wallpaper adhesive, postage stamp adhesive and envelope adhesive. New applications for starch are still regularly explored and developed. Good examples of these new applications are biologically degradable packing and biologically degradable buffer block-systems. In several industries Polem silo's and tanks are used for the storage of different kinds of starch. |
